About Peter Boersma

Peter Boersma is a DesignOps consultant who helps organisations increase the chances of good design happening.

Before becoming a DesignOps consultant, Peter was DesignOps Manager at Miro, supporting the team of 45 researchers, designers, and writers. There, he worked with the design leaders on defining the DesignOps roadmap and helping cross-functional teams execute DesignOps initiatives.

In previous roles as designer and design manager at companies like ServiceNow and Adaptive Path, he always worked on improving design processes, defining career ladders, and clarifying roles and responsibilities of designers and their peers in product management and engineering.

Peter has spoken and taught workshops at more than 75 design-related conferences, and he has hosted the Amsterdam UX Cocktail Hours since 2001.

What is your vision on our UX industry? What are exciting innovations that impacts your work as well?

More and more companies realise that design is a core contributor to digital product development and are expecting designers to help produce value. For this to happen, designers need to understand the business impact of research outcomes and design proposals.

At the same time, product managers and engineers need to adjust their expectations and ways of working to give space for designers to contribute.

I foresee Product Operations teams whose job it is to make the entire digital product development organisation run in collaborative and aligned ways, basing decisions on research insights and measured user behaviour, and measuring the process to determine where project flows, people skills, and ways of working can be optimised.

DesignOps specialists will play a key role in those teams.

How to make sure the right DesignOps initiatives are executed with the right people, to have the biggest possible impact.

DesignOps helps design teams be more efficient, effective, and happy by creating the best possible circumstances for design. Whether there are full-time DesignOps professionals available or just several people with the DesignOps mindset, coordination of DesignOps initiatives is necessary to have the biggest impact.

Peter recommends working with a continuously updated roadmap for DesignOps, featuring prioritised initiatives, a rough planning, and expected impact on the design team’s metrics.

This workshop teaches you how to make sure the right DesignOps initiatives are executed with the right people, to have the biggest possible impact.

This workshop is for you, if you want to contribute to improving the circumstances for your design team, coordinate improvement initiatives, and track the metrics that determine their impact.
