Who is Constantine Gavrykov?
Constantine Gavrykov is a Ukrainian-born, Amsterdam-based product design leader with over 20 years of experience across digital commerce, fashion, gaming and financial services. He has led and scaled design, research and content teams for global brands and platforms including Decathlon, adidas and Calvin Klein.
Currently Area Director of Product Design at Vinted, Europe's leading second-hand fashion marketplace, Constantine leads design across Trust, Security, and Help Experience. His work focuses on creating safe, intuitive, and trustworthy experiences for millions of people, making complex interactions feel simple and seamless.
Constantine’s work sits between product strategy, customer insight, emerging technology and design leadership. He is especially interested in how design teams can stay deeply human while working with increasingly intelligent systems — from AI-assisted workflows to more personal, trustworthy digital experiences.
What is your vision on our creative industry?
Our industry is caught in a dangerous speed trap. For years, we have used UX to remove every piece of friction, creating an “autopilot” experience where people click, swipe and buy without thinking. But this hyper-efficiency has started to backfire, leaving behind deeper user skepticism, buyer’s remorse and a growing sense that many digital experiences feel hollow, automated and strangely indifferent.
The most important shift in our industry is not simply a new software tool or AI agent. It is the realization that ease alone is not enough. As products become more automated, adaptive and intelligent, the creative challenge is no longer just to make people move faster. It is to design experiences that help people feel informed, protected and genuinely confident in the decisions they make.
What are you bringing to UX Rotterdam?
the future of UX is not frictionless; it is rhythmic
At UX Rotterdam, I want to challenge one of the fundamental assumptions of our craft: that the best experience is always the smoothest one. I’m interested in the idea that trust has a tempo. I believe the future of UX is not frictionless; it is rhythmic. It depends on knowing when to let people move freely, when to interrupt the flow just enough to bring them back into conscious decision-making, and when to protect them quietly in the background. As automated agents, adaptive systems and invisible rules move deeper into digital products, the designer’s role shifts from arranging static screens to composing behavioral rhythms - so the best experiences are not only easy to move through, but actively designed to remain worthy of a user’s action long after it has been taken.
