Eelco is the co-founder and senior enterprise UX designer at Okapion, a specialized agency that works where the stakes are highest. Their clients include LVNL, the organization responsible for air traffic control over the Netherlands, Siemens, Dutch government ministries, and Samskip, one of Europe's leading logistics operators.
These are environments where operators work under extreme pressure, where a poorly designed alert can be missed, and where a confusing step inside a complex workflow is not a frustration but a liability. In those contexts, UX is not about a prettier interface. It is the difference between a system that holds up under pressure and one that fails precisely when it matters most.
What is your vision on our creative industry?
There are interfaces where a bad click is annoying. And there are interfaces where a bad click diverts an aircraft, delays a cargo ship carrying thousands of containers, or causes a government system to issue the wrong decision to thousands of citizens. Mission critical enterprise software runs on complex workflows, and when those workflows are poorly designed, the consequences are not a drop in satisfaction scores. They are operational failures, compliance violations, and sometimes worse.

In his talk at UX Rotterdam, Eelco makes the case that enterprise UX is not a support function but a strategic discipline, and that the designers and agencies who understand that will define how critical infrastructure is shaped for the next decade.
